BOEING 727-200 — - KSJC - more from the 'toasted slides' box...back when I was an idiot, do you think I'd chase this jet to the Terminal and get more photos??? Nooooo. I do not remember why I didn't but this was probably late 1970s I founds this in a box of my Airliner slides, I'll have to get the ocular out to get the reg, as a bit fuzzy. The nose number is 747.

Early 80s, Tom. Republic bought Hughes Airwest in 80 after Hughes Airwest was going t--s up because of the strike against them in 1979. If I remember correctly, Alaska tried to buy HA too, but Republic, which was a fairly new airline, won. The Twenty Seven in your pic is still in HA paint but the Hughes Airwest title is painted out and Republic titles have been put on. Within a couple of years, Republic reclothed all the yellow HA fleetbirds so your slide here was taken after Republic took over HA (in 1980-81) but before they reclothed it; thus, an early 80s pic. Fine snap, T. Six blue diamonds for this flashback click. ***** + *!

Awesome Gman - I knew I was guessing on the dates and you are correct. I appreciate the History and wish I had chased this jet down for more pics near the gate.
