McDonnell Douglas MD-87 (N755RA) - KSJC - Summer 1999 was the last photos of RenoAir before the paint was changed to American Airlines 8/31/1999. This jet here was the last Reno Air flight out of San Jose, CA flying to Reno, NV on a half full flight. As a long time Aviation photographer hanging around SJC since the late 1960s I got to know a few Airline employees - and when the final day arrived for Reno Air we had contacted the Airline employee and they granted us " last Flight" photographers and were escorted to the jet(N755RA) for Flight Crew photos, and Terminal crew. We were also allowed onto the tarmac on the gate push back and departure, since it was then dark, I switched to video and filmed the last flight. It was sad! Through contacts of other SJC jet photographers we all met over the years, I was tipped off that a Reno Air employee was going to make a final book and was looking for photos. I was able to connect to Miss Martini and I sent her plenty of photos including the last flight photos on N755RA from SJC. Many of my photos were added to the book, which turned out to be a nice sized coffee table book, as I had not heard for many years after if the book had ever been published. It sure was! In apprx 2012, as I help run the SFO Airline Collectible Show ( and have for the last 32 years) I saw a Reno Air coffee table book in pristine condition on a table, with a fabulous color jacket,,,and I knew that had to be it! Sure enough, I opened the book and saw many of my photos added. It is an awesome full color book and well done, so glad that Miss Martini took the time and expense to make that book because it covers everything Reno Air.

Alien >>> An excellent pic AND an equally outstanding story. (And just an FYI to you ... I have the pic you took of Reno Air's "Last Flight" crew. I included it on a DVD I made for an airport CEO who was retiring -- and yes, I credited you.) Thanx for sharing this click, ... and great to see you back. (Also, just another FYI to you --- FA no longer inserts a WM in the lower right corner so anything you post now can be d/led and reposted as having been taken by someone else. In the past week, I've found over a dozen that have been reposted to other sites with photog credit being claimed by the thief. John G in Indy, a Boston photog and a N. Hamp photog, and a Philly area photog have all been reposted elsewhere. So just be aware when you post that your shots will likely be hijacked.)
