I called to reserve a rent car with Chandler FBO for my passengers to drive to Orla Tx for a business meeting. When we arrived the FBO informed us we could not take the rent car out of the city limits. I told them they should have informed us of that when I called to rent the car and they said they are “not really in the rent car business”. I told them they either are, or are not in the rent car business.
I called the owner Doug Chandler and he said there insurance only covers a 50 mile radius. I used my driving directions app on my phone and saw that it is a 46 mile drive to Orla Tx. I informed him of this and the owner said he knows how far it is to Orla and it is more than 50 miles. Clearly this is an “alternate fact” because if measured it is 46 miles. Well within his rules. Even their rental agreement makes exceptions.
In the end Doug told me “I need to run my business and he will run his”.
This is an extremely unfriendly FBO. I have been a corporate pilot for 39 years and this place is as bad as it gets.
If you just need your tank filled they can handle it. If you are in a bad spot and need help look elsewhere. Rockwell Turbo Commander 690 |
