Great, friendly staff! Comfortable terminal and pilot's lounge. Clean bathrooms. Approaching from the east and northeast can be tricky because a mountain blocks your view of the rw 30. (Especially if you're VFR and approaching low due to cloud-cover on VFR.)
Here's the main reason for this comment: The FBO has a crew car available FCFS, but as most FBO cars go, it's only really available for a few hours. If you need a rental, while Enterprise does serve the airport, a local Ford/Mazda dealer ("Duncan") also rents cars for VERY reasonable rates and they will drop the car off for you and leave the keys @ the FBO. Call Gina (M-F during business hours) at the rental desk of the collision center @ 540-552-8366. They are closed on weekends, so be sure to call during the week. Despite being closed, if you need a car on a weekend, be sure to call during the week and they will bring you the car and leave it for you.
Thanks to the FBO and to Duncan, we were able to easily drive out to see our daughter at her summer camp's visitor day. And, as well as many other aspects of SW Virginia, everyone was friendly and the fuel quite less expensive. Piper Cherokee |
