That's an SD3-60
No, John, that is a C-23B Sherpa, which was based on the SD-330. The 360 only had one fin.
N145Z Is reg to a 1998 SHORT BROS SD3-60 SHERPA(As well as couple other)
NICE pic!
NICE pic!
Built by the same company that built the Titanic
Ian, the only connection between Short brothers, builders of this aircraft and Harland and Wolff, builders of the Titanic, is that they were both located in Belfast, Nothern Ireland.
nice capture.
This is an important aircraft during fire season

Very interesting aircraft. It is apparently the only commercial airplane that while it is in straight and level flight can suffer a bird strike from the rear! A bit slow, very stable and an excellent specialty plane, joking aside.
I remember these when I worked in the Command Post at Ramstein AB Germany. It was designated as the C-23 Sherpa, a flying boxcar.
The Irish-built and designed Short 300-series is a reliable commuter airliner. During the 1980's in Western Canada, the Short Box was operated by Time Air of Lethbridge, Alberta for several years. Passengers loved the nearly unlimited headroom. The flight attendants didn't have to walk the aisles hunched over like they did on the DHC-6 Twin Otter. The Short was kinda noisy but much faster than driving from YQL to YXD and back, (1,100 km. round-trip, 10 hours of driving) for a single business trip involving either a Provincial Government bureaucrat or an interview for a 45 dollar-an-hour oil field job.
Time Air Short; Time Air was based in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada:

I flew on one of these from Lawton, OK to DFW. I enjoyed it even though the door came open during the taxi for takeoff. I believe it was Metro Air. I thought it looked like a bath tub with wings!
