ASG was an early Gulfstream 2 and I am 99per cent sure that this shot was taken at Whyalla in SA, which is about 125nm to the north of Adelaide on the western shore of the Spencer Gulf. (Because I recognise the distinctive hangar in the background) The letters AS in her rego stood for Associated Airlines, which was basically the flight department of BHP. I was still in high school in 1973, when even spotting this Gulfstream was like seeing the launch of an Apollo mission!
