McDonnell Douglas MD-88 (N915DE) - 3/14/20. On final at ATL. Can’t really put into words all the feelings this morning. Thrilled to be in row 1, first class on a Delta MD-88! However very sad at the same time. This is almost certainly to be my last MD-88 flight due to the sudden and rapid retirement of the -88 thanks to the Coronavirus outbreak. The type is being withdrawn what seems to be several months early. While I’ll be terribly sad when they’re gone, I had some of my most memorable trips on the MD-88. What an incredible airplane!
