Grumman Goose (N70AL)
Comments
Very nice and efficient, no doubt, but I loved the old Goose with radial engines. I'm just a nostalgic old timer.
Great photo.
Great photo.
i agree John ,, those turbos look out of place ....
Turbo Goose = G21T
First airplane I ever flew on. My wife, newborn daughter and I flew from San Pedro, CA to Catalina Island and back for a day trip. The luggage compartment in the nose was impressive as were the water takeoffs and landings. The pilot was also the baggage handler.
John + Brian ... agree with you .Nethertheless it's a good plane.
Even if it's a turbo and not a radial, it still looks beautiful.
Sure those are Radials?
@William; I use to watch these land and takeoff from Avalon Harbor. Like the S.S. Catalina, this too is now only in our memories.
Anyone remember "Tales of the Gold Monkey"?
I'll bet it's pretty quiet with those props waaay out there.
First airplane that I ever flew on. From PBI to Walker Cay in the Bahamas in 1952. Landing in the water was a unique experience!
Apparently a Turbo Goose is a goosed goose!
Only the tires are radials now.
