The camera site is where the Friendship Church and cemetery were located. This was the source for the name 'Friendship International Airport'. The site is no longer available to the public, but in the sixties and early seventies one could just drive up the road to the site. The location was in the angle formed by runways 4/22 and 15/33, actually near the crossing of those two and near the three way intersections with 10/28 also. I had a cheap radio that received airplane frequencies, albeit with a lot of bleed-over. As a young man, I spent many hours at the cemetery lot watching the planes. I was away to college and was deeply upset when I found the access road closed on my return. Pier A was on the left with Pier C extending out from the center building where the control tower is located. There was an open observation deck on the top of pier C, now also a faint memory.
