I owned this ol' gal until the left prop governor disintegrated inside the case causing the prop to slow towards 1200 rpm where it wouldn't be able to be feathered. Shut it down while climbing from take off into 400' ceiling and 1/2 mile vis. She took me around for a GPS approach to the takeoff runway and we broke out at 300' and landed safely.

First time I'd ever heard of such a failure but when looking back in the logs i noted an entry that said the case had been 'repaired' during it last o/H. Beware repaired crank cases!!!!
