If I had been standing on 34R, I could have reached up and touched the main gear tires as it went over me. Of course, I could never have been standing ON the runway; however, I WAS standing by the HOLD line and that is as close as anyone or anything can ever legally get to an active runway when an aircraft is taking off from it. Thanx to all who made it possible for me to be there.

Awesome capture, Gary! Surprised you still have so many flights coming in. DSM is done to 6-12 flights daily depending on the day.

Hey, howdy, T. It is true; I really was only a few feet from it. I'm enjoying the access while I can. Things are changing here and I'm not sure what the future holds ... might I get even better access, or the same as I have now, or no access. If you get around here before things change, I can escort you to this location.
Hey, Dwight, wassup? I don't want to give you a false impression. Our flights here are severely diminished just like many other places. I was out the other day and there were four arrivals and three departures .... in three and one-half hours. It is so sad. But at least I can get out. Folks elsewhere are living in fear. For once, I'm glad I'm old. You be safe, my friend. (Wave)

Now looking back at a couple of pics I see that some of these aircraft including SWAs are being stored. DSM is a storage facility for the Delta CR9s. We currently have at least 8 stored. I'm going to head on over there and get some pics of them.

Always be grateful for what you CAN get and you get some variety as well. Other than some commuters, currently we (Adelaide, Sth Aust) get two Jetstars and one Virgin Australia flight per weekday. Weekends - flightwise, unfortunately even sadder. It will end though. Stay safe everyone.

I concur with Gavin on that score, Gary. You have it pretty lucky at the moment. Besides the fact that my local airport gets ZERO flights at the moment (the exception being a solitary B734 cargo bird at oh-dark-thirty about 3 times a week), we are in complete lock-down and cannot go to the airport to snap even if we wanted to. We are confined to our homes (5 weeks and counting, no end in sight), and this is enforced rather ruthlessly. For the 29 days of April so far past, there have been a total of about 17 planes counted in my airspace with my FA receiver.

Wow Viv. We don't hear about your part of the world over here and I had no idea how severe it is there. Not only stay safe, but for you and your family, stay strong. That's a hard slog.

Gavin - one of the strictest - if not *the* strictest - lock-downs in the world. About to enter week 6. Cannot even buy cigarettes or alcohol. At all. Banned. Cannot even buy a cooked chicken from Woolworths, as it is "not essential". Draconian, I shall say. I cannot wait to get out and try snap a few aircraft pics again. I can't even get a shot over my home (I'm on a flight path to the airport 8km's away) because there simply are no flights.
