BOEING 727-200 (N268FE)
Long retired, Fed Ex's "Ginger" (N268FE), a B722, sits stripped of her titles and her engines in an isolated section of the cargo pad at Buffalo Niagara International. But she is still useful; the NFTA (Niagara Frontier Transit Authority) airport fire and police crews still use N268FE as an emergency response procedure training platform.
Comments
I know this will sound very stupid for me to say because, after all, this old hulk is just an obsolete and scrapped piece of machinery ... but ... as I was standing here clicking a few pics of N268FE, I found myself feeling a bit of gratitude to whoever the person was who removed the titles from this jet ... because whoever it was left "Ginger's" name on it (just beneath the cockpit window). Somewhere today, there is an adult lady whose name (many years ago when she was a child) was chosen to be on Fed Ex's N268FE, and I think it is rather neat that the young girl named "Ginger" who is now an adult is still being honored with her name on this Boeing T-tail tri.
Great comment Gary! So much skill and engineering genius went into that airframe.
Great shot Gary and thank you for your well spoken comments as well. All 5!
It's still there, according to Google Maps. They were a great plane model. Many awesome vacations were started in one before Untied dumped them for a 732, and then those abominable subcontracted CRJ2's.
Chris, Darryl, and Robert .... TY to each of you for commenting. Chris & Robert .... Both of you are 101% correct in your complimentary comments about the B727. And despite every jetliner frame that has emerged over the course of my 70+ years, I still rank six frames from the 60s era as my faves and five of those are tail-mounts: Boeing's 727 and 747, the Trident, the Tupolev T-tail tri, the Vickers VC-10, and Sud's Caravelle. Thanx for viewing my pic, guys. (Wave)
LN 1543 ex Air Canada 727 Agreed, the 727 is King.....!! But the 777-9 is looking bad *ss soon. Imagine how many 727s have been place all over the USA Gman....just like this one, former Airliners, Cargo and ?? Ginger ought to be proud!
