BOEING 747-100 (N479EV)
Flashback (Thirteen years ago to 2009) ~~~
EIA's Supertanker N479EV (ex-Delta as N9898, ex-China Airlines as B-1860, ex-Pan American as N725PA "Clipper Mandarin," ex-Garuda Indonesia as N479EV) is captured here back in 2009 as it is being prepped for certification trials.
(** The aircraft up in the top left corner of this pic is another Evergreen B747 on base leg approach. It landed shortly after I took this pic and taxied to a ramp parking position right next to this Supertanker. **)
Comments
In the years since this photo was taken, Evergreen International declared bankruptcy and sold off all of its assets. It no longer exists. As for N479EV, it was WFU and stored at KMZJ (Marana Pinal Air Park) in Arizona. A fairly recent pic of it on one of the snob sites shows it as partially scrapped but not dismembered.
Fantastic catch Gary! All 5 and worth many more!
FRick I never knew you had this....great catch!!! 5x 2 747Tankers as I an Evergreen w/Envy.!! LOL!
