Boeing CH-47 Chinook (9000200)
A CH-47 Chinook, painted to resemble Nevada Army Air Guard Chinook 90-00200 (Call: "Mustang Two Two"), as it looked on 25 Sep 2005, is mounted on sticks and on display at the NevArmy AG Base at KRTS.
This static display will be dedicated one week from today, on 25 Sep 2024, exactly 19 years to the day that the real "Mustang Two Two" (90-00200) made its Final Descent while leading a military sortie in Afghanistan. "Mustang Two Two' was hit by an RPG and went down in Zabul Province, Afghanistan. All five Army National Guard personnel, members of Company "D," 113th Aviation Battalion, lost their lives and all were posthumously awarded Bronze Stars, Purple Hearts, and Air Medals.
