Boeing 737-800 (N905NN) - Making its first visit to Reno after being freshly painted in AAs "Astrojet" retro livery (and replacing N951AA as Americans "Astrojet" schemebird), N905NN tags the mains on to runway 16R at 8:04 PM, just as the sun going down behind the Sierra Nevada is still visible enough to reflect itself in the shiny silver fuselage directly under the first pax cabin window. The sun had gone down behind the mountains by the time N905NN was marshaled into a gate.

Three wildfires, the Cold Springs fire northwest of the city, the Farad fire west of the city, and the Brenda fire to the south of Reno, were all combining to create a lot of smoke, but a strong breeze kept the air in the immediate vicinity of the airport free of smoke.

Scot and Greg .... Thanks to both of you. Scot, a compli from an aviation photog of your excellent talent is very much appreciated. Sincere Thanks. It just now occurred to me ... You are in AZ too, as is Greg. If you are ever interested in scooting up this way for some av photography, let me know ( [email protected] ) and I'll try to arrange an opportunity. I receive requests and / or invites fairly often (just got one this morning for November 21st and one last night for Dec 16th). Occasionally, those requests also say "Bring a buddy/friend." I realize it would require some realistic lead-time notice but I'm hopeful Greg and I can sync up someday and if you are interested, perhaps you and I could do so too.
Greg ... Thanks again. And there is another news release about RNO coming out today, but I'm sworn to silence for the next three hours. It's Great news. I'm stoked. Will pass it along after the evening newscasts here. (Both Thumbs Up)

Thanks! I can't wait, eh!

Greg, Frontier is coming back to RNO. Service starts in November. Been a long, long time; great news for here. (Spotter's cap in the air.)

That's great, Gary! I'm happy for you.
