The temp at the top of The Snake was 41 F and the winds were gusting over the top at 38 MPH so the wind chill up there made it a bit "brisk" (temperature wise), but my 26th photo spotting climb gave me some super closeup shots (aircraft inbound to 34R must pass closer to the mountain than when they are on approach to 34L) ... AND a rather startling surprise -- there was a rattler out. It is about two weeks early for the rattlers to be appearing; however, with the warmer temps we have had lately, I suppose they are beginning to emerge. The one I saw was not a newborn but was also not an old timer, and it was moving so sluggishly that I suspect it was half frozen, but sluggish or not, I gave it a wide berth.

Nice story to get this photo...........

Have to say....Wisconsin is almost rattlesnake free. There are some rattlers out in the Lacrosse area and Central WI. Pretty docile

5 Star Photo by the way.
