Flashback (Around 42 years ago back to the 1981 - 1983 time frame) ~~
An Empire Airlines Fokker F-28 Fellowship (N106UR) on a bar in this heavily resurrected picture taken at an unknown airport (possibly KJFK) sometime in the early 1980s. This picture is another photo from the memorabilia collection of Mr. Larry Myers, who salvaged a file drawer full of Robinson, Mohawk, and Empire Airlines photos as they were being taken to a dump in central New York State. Sadly, Larry has passed. He had sent two disks of the pictures he saved to me which is how I have them now.

This photo has been heavily photoshopped. It had faded into multi shades of purple. I first attempted to restore the original colors to every object in the picture; however, I am just not that proficient in the use of PS and the project was not working out. As a last resort, I focused my efforts on restoring the original colors to the Empire F28. This is the result. I truly wish I could have recolorized that American B727 in the background but I finally abandoned that effort.
The F28 is true to its original colors.
Also, I am not familiar with that control tower so I cannot state with 100% certainty where this photo was taken, but I "think" it may have been snapped at JFK. (*** See added Comment below. It's not JFK; it's LaGuardia.)
The original photographer is unknown.
This aircraft later flew for Piedmont when Empire was absorbed by that airline. Still later, this one wore US Air paint when US Air acquired Piedmont. This one was scrapped in 1999.

Prior to posting this photo, I researched the web to see if this pic had already been posted. Although I found numerous photos of N106UR, I never found THIS picture. As a result, I felt it was OK for me to share it here in the FA gallery.
My sincere Thanks to Larry Myers who made it possible for fans of airline history to view this picture of N106UR. (gcs)

This is an awesome repair job, Gary and thanks for the Fokker memories :)

Glad you enjoyed it, Dave. (Thumbs Up)
Also, I researched the control tower. It's LaGuardia's back in the 80's. First opened in April, 1964. Closed down in 2011 when a new tower was opened.
