Boeing 747-400 (B-16801) - CYVR - April 1999 in Seattle visiting relatives for a week, we decided to drive up to Vancouver BC Canada and visit the Canadian Vance's and also get some photos at YVR. I was hoping for another Mandarin 747 to arrive but no, this is the only Manadarin 747 I saw, the other one is their 747SPs here. A fresh snow load the night before on the Coast Range of the Canadian Rockies makes a nice backdrop as this 747 departs for Hong Kong.

Ahhh, man, back then it was so easy to cross the US-Canada border. Friendliest border in the world. We crossed over between NY and Canada via the Peace Bridge in Buffalo or the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls all the time. Stop for 30 seconds; then get waved on. But not anymore ....
Great snap, T. Keep 'em comin'.

Yes it was G-man...same at Blaine, WA and the Peace Arch. So much fun the Canadians loved us. YVR is a bad *ss airport and always will be. I used to 'stare" the Canadian Border Agents down when it was my turn at the Kiosk, I would answer like a "Robot" just to try and make them laugh. They were so strict and formal, never smiling....."Yes Sir, No Sir and the like,,...and one time an Agent asked me if I was going to be leaving anything in Vancouver,,true story and I replied " Cash". He cracked up out loud but quickly recovered to the straight face, but I could see he was biting his lip not to laugh further..... Vancouver is Tourist mecca,,1000s of things to do there,,,tyvm.
