McDonnell Douglas DC-10 (N1834U)
KSFO - date apprx early to mid 1990s before the SFO Airport expansion, and eventual blocking this view, I used to park on the top floor of the inside garage area because I could park where I am shown here and see all of the 28LR arrivals and watch the 1LR departures, even though a bad sun angle. This DC-10 was leased from United new to Delta Airlines as N602DA and returned a few years later and re-reg to the N1834U United reg.here. The DC10 was on taxi the long way around the airport taxiways to Runway 28L left behind the tail, for departure most likely Honolulu. For the detailed oriented, I think the 727 on final is Western Airlines.
Comments
Although I was never a monster fan of any of UA's "Tulip' liveries, THIS red & blue "Tulip" livery was (IMO) the best of them. Geesh, I wish the major carriers were still flying the Douglas/MD and Lockheed tris. (And, of course, because they are my faves - Boeings T-tail triholer like that one on s/f.) One star for each wing mount and three stars for the tail mounted engine = 5 *.
good eye, the newer Saul Bass paint upgrade design was real awesome fresh out of the paint hangar..the same scheme here but larger titles and cheatline adjustment was real cool until they started getting grease and rain marks tyvm
