Fantastic image of the finest aircraft that ever took to the air. Not the best or the biggest but the finest, it took my fancy when I was a child plane spotter because it was eyecatching. A tiny six foot man standing next to the nosewheel put the aircraft amongst the Gods, the sheer scale of this machine against this man stole my heart and I retain my love for the Douglas Tri Jets.

I must agree with both of you.  I think they were both beauties!  And they were both from Southern California.  California girls!!
it's a generational thing.  the L-1011 is a malibu.  the DC-10 is a SS-396.  it's a muscle plane.  and yes, i know that is not a term. :):):)
That is one awesome shot, the first time I have seen one that I can see the detail of the tail engine!
