Bell 412 (14-6484)
Bell CH-146 “Griffon” Utility Tactical Transport Helicopter 146484 of Royal Canadian Air Force 427 "Lions" Special Operations Aviation Squadron from CFB Petawawa at YOW on 18 May 22. “Low, dark, and fast.”
In 1943, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) adopted 427 Squadron – then a heavy bomber squadron – and permitted the names of their stars (including Joan Crawford, Greer Garson, Heddy Lamar, and Lana Turner) to be displayed on 427 Sqn aircraft. MGM presented a handsome bronze lion statue to the squadron (now on a Squadron Memorial in Cobden, Ontario) and provided all 427 Squadron members with a special coin that served as a lifetime pass to its theatres.
