Wasaya Airways de Havilland DASH 8-300 C-GHQZ at YWG on 4 May 23.

Originally delivered to Tyrolean Airways of Austria in 1994, this aircraft has been registered in Canada since 2001 and began flying with Wasaya Airways in 2022. Wasaya is 100% First Nations owned and serves communities in Northwestern Ontario. Wasaya means “rising sun” in Oji-cree, and the eight rays in the logo represent each of the original eight owner First Nation communities.

Wasaya Airways has a tradition of naming their new aircraft after a distinguished member from one of their owner communities: this aircraft is named “The Spirit of Noah A. Chapman” late of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation (formerly Big Trout Lake First Nation).
