De Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter (C-FAPR)
De Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter C-FAPR with Ignace Airways at Ignace Seaplane CJD9 on Agimak Lake in Ignace, Ontario on 18 Jun 23.
Construction number 31, she was one of the first Otters to be delivered to the Luftforsvaret (the Royal Norwegian Air Force) in 1954. She deployed to the Antarctic from October 1958 until March 1959. After service with the Luftforsvaret, she flew with the Norwegian regional airline Wideroes Flyveselskap A/S (as LN-LMM) from 1967. She returned to Canada in 1978 and has flown with Ignace Airways – the seaplane charter service of Ignace Outposts – in Northwestern Ontario since 1988. The R1340 “Wasp” radial engine sounds glorious and echoes for miles.
