Global Space-Based ADS-B for Business Aviation with FlightAware Global
FlightAware is inviting attendees of the National Business Aviation Association's (NBAA) 2016 convention to experience their updated FlightAware Global solution at the FlightAware booth 4863.
Business aviation operators can now sign up to receive Aireon's worldwide real-time space-based ADS-B flight tracking data through FlightAware Global, as soon as partial coverage becomes available, with full coverage available in 2018. FlightAware Global is a real-time web-based flight tracking solution used by thousands of flight departments and operators to monitor their fleet. The Aireon data will provide global flight tracking information at one minute position intervals.
Hosted on the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation, Aireon's space-based ADS-B surveillance network will consist of 66 low-earth-orbit satellites providing 100 percent global coverage of all ADS-B out equipped aircraft. The constellation is scheduled to be completed by 2018.
"There's no better way to see what type of difference this new data can make for the business aviation community than for us to offer an advanced look at its impact," said Daniel Baker, CEO of FlightAware. "The business aviation community has a unique set of needs and we're looking forward to showing how the latest version of FlightAware Global will serve as an incomparable solution to what's available today. We're taking this to a whole new level."
FlightAware Global integrates dozens of data sources including radar from over 50 countries, datalink, and FlightAware's own network of ADS-B ground stations. With the addition of Aireon's space-based ADS-B data, global position data will be available whether the aircraft is flying in a remote, oceanic or polar airspace.
Upon completion of the Iridium NEXT constellation and Aireon's space-based ADS-B network, existing FlightAware Global customers will have seamless access to the new space-based ADS-B position reporting.
