Simply because pilots aren't. With already low pilot numbers, starts down, and fundamental training lacking in many others, automation is the only way for aviation expansion to occur. If I ever have to use the airlines again I will just hope for the best.

when 737 MAX design failures show that FLY BY WIRE can quickly become DIE BY WIRE is when this SLF will book on none other than Proven aircraft and seasoned pilots
