At least three people were killed in the horror crash when two small planes smashed into each other near Miami. Federal Aviation Administration agents said the incident happened at about 1pm local time (6pm BST). It is understood the two aircraft were a Piper PA-34 and a Cessna 172. Officers believe the planes were registered to Dean International airport and they were piloted by trainers. Three people were pronounced dead shortly after the wreckage was discovered. The condition of a fourth person has not been confirmed. Witness Daniel Miralles said he saw the planes collide as he was fishing in the canals near the airport. He added: "I heard a weird sound. It sounded like a plane, but it sounded too close. "It sounded like an 18-wheeler going 100mph down the street." The area is a well-known tourist hotspot and is filled with aligators.
