If it were not for Piedmont Airlines (Major Carrier) merged by USAir, Later merged with American, CLT would never have had the facility that they have today. Piedmont was the driving backbone for it back in the day. American is just enjoying the fruits of Piedmont who had gifted insight and at the time I believe to be the best airline flying.
