An American Airlines employee is being hailed as a hero for stopping a runaway fuel truck from hitting airplanes and other airport property. Longtime airline employee Darren Carbone was guiding a plane away from its gate at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on Tuesday when he noticed an unmanned fuel truck rolling backward toward an airport gate. The guy is a hero, but why does the luggage tug keep turning towards the moving fuel truck?

Probably to get in front and stop it. It is a fuel transfer truck from what I can make out from the video, meaning it does not carry any fuel but pumps from the ground to the plane via pressue hoses.

Mr. Carbone was counseled and suspended for 2 weeks without pay for deserting his station while guiding an aircraft, according to a report in The Onion.
