It's official: Boeing loses out to Airbus in massive Delta deal
Boeing lost a 50-plane Delta deal to Airbus this week. Delta signed a deal to purchase planes from the A350 and A330 family (www.bizjournals.com) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Delta can go screw themselves with all of their 45 min impossible Atlanta layovers designed to pump business into the airport when people run to the bars and restaurants to spend money after their missed connections. In fact, any US airline sucks these days.
I am hopeful that Delta will be happy with planes that need more hanger rest, use more fuel, and fly lower and slower than the Boeing products they wanted but were unavailable because other people already bought those Boeing planes!
It will be interesting to see how it works out. Operating specs may be a tad cheaper but nobody is factoring in hangar time/dispatch reliability right now. That drop will come with age. There will be some earlier retirements as senior pilots will not retrain. Younger ones will have no choice but then will also be qualified to do other things as well.
Sounds like the deal was over quite some time ago with them pushing 787 delivery slots further out when they could have started getting the AC by now. Think it was a done deal in the back room long long ago.
Read below this info came via a privately run 787 web site that's on the net. Think the fellow who runs it has an inside link on many things posted not just what the company puts out.
