This seems to be the new airline way, I work at DTW and delta does the same thing there, either incredibly busy or nothing moving at all, and from what I understand MSP is the same way.

I don't care what they say about 3hrs to 1 hr., it'll be more like 30 minutes and run like hell between gates, with a gate change in there that you have to turn around and go all the way back. They'll probably be able to kick them away from the gate, but what can the Airport and ATC do with them when they get them off the ramp.
