What makes this 'newsworthy' appears to be that, among the passengers, there were a half-dozen or so news media personnel who missed their connection back to Malaysia. Reported by the New Straits Times it is good local news reporting for a Malaysia audience. The ending tidbit that Malaysia was voted a nonpermanent seat on the UN Security Council.
I did like the 'U-turn', as if putting it in reverse was an alternative.
