Pilot killed when small plane crashes near Rockford IL

The pilot of a small plane was killed when it crashed into a cornfield about 5 to 8 miles southeast of Rockford this morning, officials said. The single-engine plane went down shortly after 8 a.m. not far from the Rockford airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
