Incident: EgyptAir B773 over Atlantic on Mar 5th 2012, engine shut down in flight

An EgyptAir Boeing 777-300, registration SU-GDL performing flight MS-986 (dep Mar 4th) from New York JFK,NY (USA) to Cairo (Egypt) with 156 passengers, was enroute over the Atlantic Ocean about half an hour before reaching the Irish coast when the crew reported an engine failure, shut the right hand engine (GE90) down and descended from FL340 to FL260. The crew declared emergency, diverted to Shannon (Ireland) for a safe landing on runway 06 and taxied to the gate. (avherald.com) More...
