peter..i dont think so..gate lobby space and the number of gates are requested and allocated by the city to individual airlines depending upon their needs and how much rent they pay the city..other carriers would have to put out the money for remodeling and get approval for new routes if attempts were made to take over slots by ual and aa at ord..airlines do not like to move hubs nor crew bases as that also entails moving certain offices as well..

any airport expansion in any city,is not done specifically by the city itself, nor the city council, but usually with bond issues approved by the voters,in consideration of talks and discussions held with the carriers who would benefit from expansion or modernization..the airlines do pay part of the building costs because of the ticket counters needed, the added gate space, baggage facilities and even the tramways or trains that run between terminals..the airlines know better than the promoters of new, modern looking terminals, what the traveller wants and needs, which is ease of movement from one area to another via walkways or trams, large lobbies to accommodate crowds, restaurants and a few shops scatterd here and there, and ease of parking outside the terminals..simple,basic issues..i dont know of people who must have a terminal that has trees and high glassed in ceilings etecetera akin to a shopping mall..give a traveller access to wifi, maybe an electric cart or wheelchair assist, and most ar

you would think such simple advice as "please be nice" would be a "no brainer"..however..people are people and there are always persons in every situation, whether its waiting in line at the airport, drivng on the freeway,or any place where ther are lots of other folks, who will have no patience with others,no regard for what is happening, and just plain no courtesy, with a me first attitude..

this is funny and we all need a good laugh!i do recall being served at times sonmething we jokingly used to call "mystery meat" on some flights!the very best in flight food i was ever served was on the "old" continental dc-10,(first calss)where they actually carved prime rib from a cart to your liking, and also made a desert from a cart to your liking with toppings..oh for "the good old days"!!

Many years ago there was an incident of a passenger being literally sucked out of the window on an aircraft..i believe it was a dc10 operated by then NW airlines..

READ THE ARTICLE..THIS IS NOT AN EXPANSION OF ORD-IAH,AS UAL AND SOME OTHER CARRIERS ALREADY HAVE SERVICE BACK AND FORTH IN THAT MARKET..ITS AN ANNOUNCMENT OF A NEW FLEET OF AIRCRAFT ,WHICH IN MARCH WILL INCLUDE THIS ROUTE..THEY DO NEED AN UPGRADE IN AIRCRAFT,SO THIS IS A GOOD PUBLIC RELATIONS MOVE TO ENCOURAGE TRAVELLERS ..

respectfully sir..even law enforcement disagree with this idea..the old "shootout at the ok corral" just doesnt work, and real life is not like the tv shows or movies where a person just happens to pull out a weapon and not get shot themselves...

"misbehaving" as the article says,is a far cry from pulling a gun on a fellow employee, particularly in the cockpit..it does not mention covid specifically, only that the armed do pilot disagreed with diverting due to a medical issue..the way the article is worded,it could have been his own medical issue..also the flight deck pilots who are armed,do not carry a gun on their person..it is stowed for many reasons, and those individuals always identify themselves to the agents at the gate before they board,as well as any air marshalls that might be on the aircraft..this co pilot obviously had a "little voice" in his head tell him huhis actions were warranted..!
