Sawyer International Airport (KSAW) is being renamed, losing International designation

Despite public opposition to again renaming the former K.I. Sawyer AFB, or at least include local native & modern aviation pioneer Kelly Johnson's name - Marquette County voted to change the name from Sawyer International Airport to Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport, losing the International classification. This could cost federal subsidies, CBP and USCIS svcs & continued business with direct intl customers like Antonov which used KSAW for transporting mining, generator and drilling… (www.uppermichiganssource.com) More...
