United Launches Program to Hire Active Military Pilots

Going to be a lot of multi-engine time A-10 pilots available in the near future. Pilots that will opt to depart the service instead of transitioning to a crop duster.

"The launch of this program epitomizes our dedication to those who've dedicated themselves to our nation." Total baloney.

This is nothing more than seeking a cheap source of labor from an employer who has already invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in selecting and training these pilots. Period.

Great to support military pilots

great.... they have good experience ...

years back almost all of the pilots hired by commercial airlines were former military pilots..later on they had difficulty getting those people to apply because there were fewer of them available..i think its an excellent idea,although i do have a relative recently hired by a large airline, who had many hours of flight time but not from the miltary..

In the 1990's I suggested two things to stop the pilot shortage - as chair of the Air Line Pilots Association's Pilot Training Services Committee.

The first was to ALPA and that was to remove the FAA from Multi-Crew Second in Command certification. Instead, turn it over to the National Academy of Science to design training with airline, union and universities oversight. After two years, have the NAS issue a Limited Airline Transport Pilot certificate limited to SIC at a 121 carrier (i.e., no renting a 172 for pleasure). After two years and accumulating 1600 hours, apply to the FAA for an unrestricted ATP.

The second was to the USAF by meeting with a four star general (based on my ALPA credentials) and he pleaded with me (us) to stop the outflow of AF pilots. One of my recommendations was to unionize military pilots.

Military pilots are hate crimers Autism haters and disability abusers. They will bring nothing but lawsuits to United Airlines. Military pilots belong in a cage not in the sky. We are preparing class action disability rights and human rights violation lawsuit against United States Air Force on behalf of Autistic community with sensory sensitivities whom they severely and repeatedly abused with life ending noise of their aircrafts. The only good thing out of it - now United will have to pay abusers salary and not taxpayers. As a disabled taxpayer I have big problem with paying salary of my abusers. I personally wish military pilots to be forever cursed with infinite misfortune and to suffer the way they made me my Autistic family members and other members of my community suffer and writhe on the floor in seizures caused by loud noise of military aircraft knowing that there is no rescue and no relief because they develop seizures after 60 Db and it is over 70 Db in emergency room and there is no sensory friendly emergency rooms so once they are abused they are doomed. I wish military pilots that their pain and suffering are endless and they never find any justice and any relief - just like it happened to us. I pray to my Gods to curse military pilots with infinite misfortune. There is no justice in this world for noise sensitive Autistic people like me but there is higher justice and it will come to these monsters.
