I've been to the museum there, they fly all their birds, it's a labor of love. You don't see many Wildcats... er... in the wild anymore. Well worth the visit!
P&W R-1830 Twin Wasp engine. 1,200 HP
Good memories! I climbed into and fueled that A/C when I was a lineman at N57 c. 1972. Lex's warbird back then.
Nice.
Great photo, Tomas.
It is a General Motors FM-2 but it is not a "Grumman" or a "G-36" Wildcat.
G-36 is the design no. for the original Grumman-built Wildcat, aka F4F in US Navy service.
The FM-2 (the "M" implicitly means "Not Grumman") was an Eastern/GM model GM-1.
The TBM Avenger was an Eastern/GM model GM-2.
Both FAA regulations and US Navy aircraft identification standards say aircraft should be properly identified on the basis of "builder" not designer.

Thank to all...I like to visit the museum...
