I know this isn't the prettiest picture on FA, but I think it is kind of cool. Consider that I'm in a B-24 (pretty cool), trying not to fall down because of all the vibration and bouncing around, in a cramped space behind the cockpit, trying to shoot through a small window, and I don't have a lot of time to take the shot. Oh, and moving around inside a B-24 while it is cool, it isn't easy. Especially if you're a little older and carrying some extra baggage around with you - if you know what I mean. It was a lot of work. The inside of the plane (and the B-17 is about the same) is cramped (not built for big guys) with a lot of things sticking out and waiting to poke you. And you're going to be hitting your head on things all the time. Trying to slide through the bomb bay is especially challenging since the catwalk is only a few inches wide. You have to go through sideways and suck in everything you can. Carrying a camera doesn't help, either! But when I saw the other three Collings Foundation WWII birds on the ground I had to get an aerial shot of them. This was my only chance. We were going to be on the ground again with them in just a few minutes. So, that's the back story. And I recommend taking a ride on one of the old war birds if you ever get a chance. It is living history and a lot of fun!
