Boeing 757-200 (N951FD)
N951FD upwind after departing runway 8R. The prevailing winds in Socal are usually from the west and they use runway 26R of L but due to homes in the flight path of the the 26s they land to the west and depart to the east during the night and early morning. There are about 30 departures at KONT between 6 and 7am but the rest of the day averages only about 3 per hour, easily making this the only time that's really worth it to "spot" at KONT unless there is a special charter or something out of the ordinary. This one was taken just after 6am.

An outstanding capture of "Riley," Mark. The second one for the folder. 5+!!
Thank you very much for the comment Gary. Luckily everything came together for this shot, this was the one aircraft of the morning that departed when the sun was partially behind the clouds. All the aircraft were in either full sunlight or complete cloud cover.
Excellent shot, Mark! Seen in Daily Newsletter!
Thank you Dwight
