This Boeing B-52H is USAF s/n 61-0019, c/n 464446, and is named "Rolling Thunder III". It is assigned to the 96th Bomber Squadron, 2nd Bomb Wing, 8th Air Force of Barksdale AFB since Sep 2012 according to Joe Baugher's information.
Thanks for the info, cliff731. It was great to see her in the VP70 Flypast.
Frank, you are very welcome and thanks for sharing this photo with us!
No problem. The C-17 flew at 300ft, so I was able to get Castle Hill in the background. The B52H flew at 1000ft probably to spare everyone's ear drums! My Mum and Dad owned a corner store in Townsville years ago. A couple of guys from The United States were in town and went specifically to my folks shop to see if it was still there, having visited the shop while stationed at RAAF Townsville during WWII. I wasn't there but I would have loved to have asked lots of questions had I been. There are also some great B&W photos amongst others of General Douglas MacArthur's visit to the base hanging at YBTL Airport, showing the airports role hosting the US Army Air Force during the Pacific conflict.
