KAMAN K-600-5 Huskie (62-4513) - This Kaman HH-43B "Huskie" (62-4513) is on static display at the Castle Air Force Base Museum in Atwater, CA. This "B" model is similar to the Huskies used in SEA (some of those were "F" models) for rescuing downed pilots. This Huskie, a "B" model, was never utilized in SEA. Its two "duty assignments" were at Eglin AFB in Florida and Kirtland AFB in New Mexico.

Thanks for the photo of the 'B' model. Where do you find the historic info such as "duty assignments?"

Howdy, Sam. Good to hear from you. :-)
Any more pics to share? I really enjoy viewing your photos.
Sam, finding the historic background info of this one was really easy for me -(grin)- because the info was in the museum's visitor pamphlet. However, I usually don't have it quite so easy. The first step is to determine the full military reg number of the aircraft. That can be a pain in the a_s to do; especially for the older model aircraft that are now retired / junked / cut up / on static display / etc. Knowing the way each service (Navy, AF, Army) assigns reg numbers to its aircraft gives me a great headstart on which file or list to look on. Sometimes the only way to do it is by trial-and-error (enter a possible reg and keep doing it until there is a "hit"). Once the complete reg number is known, it gets lots easier to dig up historic background info on the aircraft but it sometimes takes a lot of digging thru the web. I have several sites I go to.
