Boeing 737-800 (N301NW)

I knew the probability of getting a clear and crisp pic of this B738 was low. There were several factors that were urging me to simply skip the chance to snap this one: 1) the temp on the open airport grounds was into low triple digits, 2) heat waves were plainly visible rising from the paved surfaces, 3) the 11 AM sun was almost directly overhead so any colors would be "washed out," 4) there was literally no color in the scene, and to make matters even worse, 5) a white aircraft against gray rocks and light gray concrete is a low-contrast scene. But then I remembered some advice I'd received from a man who had once been my English student in HS but who, years later, was a nationally-recognized digital photographer and who had become the "teacher" and I the "student": "White is not a color; it is the lack of color, so it tends to become 'tinted' by actual color. When faced with a 'white on light' situation in full sun under blue skies, the blue sky will often create the contrast". So I gave it a try. And the very slight tint of the blue sky on the white fuselage here is just adequate enough to define the aircraft distinctly against the bland background. TYVM, Dan. (Wave)
