Do you know why he did not de-ice or if the 2 flights preceding de-iced?
I don't know, as I had already left Wiggins when that accident happened. I did know the pilot of the fatal crash in Plattsburg; and he never took chances. So the report in my opinion has some doubt. Many times we line pilots got into "trouble" when encountering any kind of clear ice with the new Caravan back then. We had a full on meeting with all Wiggins Airways Caravan Line pilots in 88 with Cessna brass to reveal the weaknesses of the Caravan's De-Ice and Anti Ice systems. Unsure the end result, but do know many changes were made over the years that followed gleaned from public info.
