Piper PA-24 Comanche (N5066P)

Beautiful photo.
Pretty airplane. When I flew out of Rensselaer Cty. airport (Troy, NY) years ago, there was a similar
looking Comanche based there. Probably not this one. I never was able to fly in a Comanche.
Cherokee's were most of my flying.

Love all the Commanches. My favorite was the C model. Never got to fly the 400.
Great photo & awesome plane Jonah !
Oh the memories! Jan62 N5588P (Its current home today is Las Vegas) became my dad's "assigned" company plane. He'd been instrument rated since the fall of '59. For the next several years I got to be the "crew engineer" for 5588 Papa (a 250). With our home airport (7V2) barely shy of 6000 ASL, Dad quickly equipped the Comanche with a pair of high-pressure oxygen bottles with regulators and discovered the fuel efficiency that bird would deliver up high, (for us, naturally we got clearance and stayed below airliner levels). Logged my first thousand hours in that bird and will love it always.
N5066P - 1958? PIPER PA-24
From the 180 to the 400 there was just a 15kt difference in cruise. I flew a lot of them and never flew in one that didn't smell like avgas inside.
